Yes, this is Brian Wilson’s solo album from 1988. Dave’s band at the time, Bay State Bluegrass, is in the background on the last cut, “Rio Grande.” We were recording our “Home Run Man” LP at the time in Boston, and our engineer, Rob Dimit, was an old friend of Andy Paley, one of the co-producers of Brian Wilson’s project. At the last minute Brian wanted a bluegrass band on this cut, and Andy called our engineer. We auditioned for Lenny Waronker over the phone, went into the studio to record various versions of the song, and sent the tapes off to LA.
